It was the battle of the rugged and clean-shaven at the 98th annual Academy Awards on Sunday, with “Heated Rivalry” star Hudson Williams leading the latter against Timothée Chalamet and Jacob Elordi.
Styled by Amy Komorowski, Elordi posed with a disheveled mullet, while Chalamet, who buzzed his head in late 2025, appeared with short, tangled ends. Williams, on the other hand, boasted a bare face and gelled hair. Meanwhile, the floating mustache was brought back by Actor in a Leading Role nominee Leonardo DiCaprio.

Hudson Williams boasted a bare face and gelled hair courtesy of hairstylist and groomer Aika Flores. On Instagram, Flores shared a breakdown of Williams’ glowy skin and his wet hair look, calling out the Dyson Supersonic R Pro Hair Dryer and Enhanse skin care as the hero products.
“Started on damp hair and used the Dyson Supersonic R with the diffuser attachment to gently dry the hair while keeping the natural movement intact,” she wrote. “I used my hands to bend and guide the hair into shape as it dried, almost setting the direction so it falls exactly where I want it. The diffuser keeps the airflow soft, which helps maintain that natural texture without blowing the style apart. The key is building the shape while the hair is still damp — once it sets, you’re left with that clean, controlled wet look that still feels soft and effortless.”
Timothée Chalamet
After shaving his flow in late 2025 for the “Marty Supreme” promotion, Timothée Chalamet stepped out with tangled hair by celebrity groomer Jamie Taylor. The best actor nominee paired the relaxed aesthetic with his signature goatee.
Damson Idris
Dressed in a fur-trimmed Prada suit, Damson Idris complemented the soft embellishments on his jacket with a short afro and a skinny mustache. The “F1” actor collaborated with stylist Jessica Smalls, whose celebrity client list also includes Colman Domingo and Wunmi Mosaku.
Leonardo DiCaprio
Leonardo DiCaprio kept his chin naked and his upper lip warm on Sunday, donning a full mustache and a coiffed side part on the carpet. Though DiCaprio has previously entrusted men’s groomer Barbara Guillaume to get him ready, it’s not certain the stylist worked on this look. WWD has reached out for confirmation.
